Can we be honest?

To be honest we are in a mental recession because the majority of average Americans THINK we are in a recession. The main stream media is constantly saying we are in a recession but truth be told we are not. However, most people do not know the definition of a recession and believe what they are being told by the media is true. This belief is done on faith in the media, which is something I have little of, if any.

To have a recession you must have two continuous quarters without growth. We have not even had one quarter without growth. Yes, we the growth is very very slow and we seem to be headed to a recession. However, you cannot say we are in a recession no more than you can say that someone who is going to die soon is dead.

As far as American’s becoming whinners of course we whine and frankly that is not always a bad thing. When people get fed up they take action. We would not be normal if we didn’t complain about the price of gas rising as quickly as it did and the fact that Congress for the last two decades has done nothing to talk about in getting us off of foreign oil, even though every four years since the 70s we have heard we need to and they will be the one person to do it for us.

I don’t believe it is the fault of the American’s for complaining so much thanks again to the good old main stream media who believes everything that is bad is news and everything that is positive it not news. Of course they will say the bad news is what gives them ratings BUT how would they know if they never report the good and positive news. Also, they are in the business of reporting the news not reporting what gives them ratings. Also, these new cable shows wherein in pundits give their OPINION like it was facts. Some of the shows spend a lot of times saying how bad their competition is or how bad the government is but doesn’t offer anything the citizens can do to change things they simply whine about how bad it is. Other stations will go after people and expose them to the public but because he main stream media won’t pick up on these stories the voters don’t know or remember and vote the same old people back into office. Example, William Jefferson had 90,000 of marked money in his freezer and while under investigation was not only reelected he received a standing ovation from the black carcus. There is no shame in anything. I know innocent until proven guilty, but when you are caught with your hand in the cookie jar if is kinda hard to say something put your hand in there. Further, if it was your property in his freezer you wouldn’t think he was innocent until proven guilty.

The main stream media though has tough competition for that spot of who is to blame for American’s becoming whinners and that is our government, especially Congress. Not Republicans or Democrat ALL of them. The politicians know things the media reports are not always factual but they wouldn’t dare say that for two reasons and both are self serving. First, they don’t want the American people to know too much about how the country is being ran or should I say controlled by Congress. For example, Obama clearly knows what Graham said was theoretically true, but he can use it too his advantage by making it sound like it is pure hogwash and twist it around to make it sound like Graham said the high gas prices, etc are all in people’s head. This is not true, Obama’s campaign knows it is not true and the media that reports it knows it is not true. Everyone just goes along with the little game and explain it all as “just politics” know it is not just politics it is just a lie and a concerted effort to keep the public as uninformed and dumb about certain things so they can make money. Secondly, if the politician told the media what they are reporting is false and say for example called a new conference so the public would know the media would have reporters watching their every move and report the corruption and backdoor games they all play.

All this being said, it is the American people who are being played a fool. Most average Americans are uninformed  as to how the government functions and have no idea what the Congress is doing. Congressman tell the public they are trying to help the American public but the democrats blame the Republicans and vice versa. The truth is they are both out for themselves and use the citizens as a pawn in their little game. The make statements and air commercials they know are misleading and purposely lead the citizens to believe things that are not true simply so they can win. Keeping the people you are suppose to be serving misinformed does not sound like someone who has the good of the country at heart. If you don’t believe this is true watch C-span for a night or two and listen to both sides speak. They say one thing and do another. They say the want to pass an energy bill let the speaker of the house refuses to allow a vote even take place. It makes you wonder if one day we will have to have another Declaration of Independence so we can break away from being lead by the nose like sheep to slaughter by Congress.
